Understanding Aged Care
Navigating aged care can feel overwhelming — but at KOPWA, we’re here to make it simple and supportive. Whether you’re planning ahead or seeking immediate care, our experienced team will guide you through the process from start to finish.
Residential aged care provides ongoing accommodation, clinical support, and lifestyle services for older Australians who can no longer live independently at home. At KOPWA, this means compassionate care in a beautiful Roseville setting, with private suites, 24/7 nursing, and personalised support every day.

Understanding the Costs of Residential Aged Care
Choosing aged care is a big decision — and understanding the associated costs is an important part of the process. At KOPWA, we’re committed to transparency and flexibility, helping you and your family navigate the financial aspects of care with confidence and support.
How Aged Care Fees Work
Residential aged care costs are a combination of government subsidies, your personal financial situation, and your accommodation choices.
If you’re living in or move permanently into an aged care home on or before 31 October 2025, your current residential and accommodation payment arrangements will stay the same while you remain in care.
For people entering aged care homes from 1 November 2025, changes have been made to the means assessment, meaning about half of new residents may pay more. The treatment of the family home and refundable accommodation deposits for the aged care means assessment doesn’t change.
Depending on your individual circumstances, you may be asked to pay:
Contributions for everyday living costs
Basic daily fee: All residents will continue to pay the basic daily fee (BDF)
Hotelling Supplement: This helps aged care homes meet the cost of services such as catering, cleaning and gardening. From 1 November 2025, residents who can afford it will contribute some or all of the Hotelling Supplement. The government will continue to pay the rest, including the full Hotelling Supplement for those who are unable to contribute.
Contributions for non-clinical care:
The government fully funds all clinical care costs in aged care homes
A new Non-Clinical Care Contributions (NCCC) will be introduced to cover things such as bathing, mobility-assistance and lifestyle activities. Those who can afford it will make a contribution towards their NCCC based on their means assessment
A lifestyle cap will mean residents will no longer have to pay the NCCC once they reach $130,000 (indexed) in total contributions, or after 4 years -whichever comes first. Fees paid under the Support at Home Program also count towards the lifetime cap.
Additionally, a daily cap of $101.16 (indexed) applies to the NCCC.
To find out how much you might have to pay under the current funding arrangements, please refer to the aged care fee estimator tool, which can give you an estimate to help you plan.
KOPWA also offers higher quality services for an additional fee, called a Higher Everyday Living Fee. KOPWA’s program is known as Living Plus. You cannot be asked to agree to pay a Higher Everyday Living Fee until after you have entered care. However, you may wish to consider whether you would like to pay for these optional extras.
Accommodation
KOPWA offers flexible Accommodation payment options to suit your needs, including:
Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD): A lump sum payment that is fully refunded when the resident permanently leaves our care.
Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP): A daily payment based on the room price and the government-set interest rate (MPIR).
Combination of RAD and DAP: You can choose to pay part of the accommodation as a lump sum and the rest as a daily payment.
What Else You Should Know
Pricing Transparency: We provide clear pricing information so you can make informed decisions, in line with Australian Government requirements.
No Hidden Costs: We are upfront about any additional services or fees.
Flexibility: Payment structures can be tailored to suit your financial situation and preferences.
Security: Lump sum accommodation deposits (RADs) are government-guaranteed and must be refunded net of any approved deductions when a resident permanently leaves care.
